Meet Jenn Maturo

Founder of barrebyjenn, Lululemon Ambassador

Jenn fell in love with barre while living abroad in London. At first barre was simply the reminder of her adolescent love for ballet but it wasn’t long before she discovered how significantly barre changed her postpartum body in a way unlike any other exercise. After that, she found herself easily taking 6 classes a week and was presented with the opportunity to train as an instructor. Unfortunately, however, teaching was put on the back burner when Jenn’s third pregnancy brought with it some strict bedrest and her family moved back to the US.

It wasn’t until she was faced with the opportunity to train with her #1 fitness role model that Jenn signed up for training and her journey as a teacher truly began. Although Jenn initially questioned her ability to become an instructor (and a decent one at that) as a full-time mother of three, she found support in the amazing Jenn Phelan and Meg Fitzgerald—both barre instructors and working mothers—and pursued her dream to teach. Jenn received her barre certification at North End Yoga in 2018. Jenn has been teaching ever since and you can now find her toning and sculpting booties all over the South Shore and opened her first studio, Pulse, in 2021.

Jenn is known for her tough but effective barre classes and sweat dripping cardio barre workouts.

Krishana, Studio Manager

Krishana has a passion for movement and wellness. Always on the go, being active has been an important part of her entire life. After dabbling in every type of fitness you could imagine, she fell in love with barre during her very first class and hasn't looked back since.

She strives to create a fun and motivating environment for her students driven by her enthusiasm, music and creative sequencing. She hopes everyone leaves class feeling stronger and more confident (and hopefully cracking a few smiles along the way)! When she isn't teaching or taking classes, you can usually find her hiking with her family or seeking out the best local coffee shops!

Lindsey

Lindsey’s class will not only leave you feeling stronger, but it’s also guaranteed fun. Her goal is to make you smile, while also making those muscles shake! Molly

Molly has always lived an active lifestyle, seeking ways to move her body through sports, fitness classes or getting outside for a run. She stumbled upon barre eleven years ago and fell in love with both the physical and mental challenge. The workout hooked her and the sense of community kept her coming back. Molly decided to take her love for barre one step further and became a certified instructor in 2022. She strives to teach a challenging and fun class that leaves her clients feeling strong and confident. Molly is a WA state native that lives in Kingston with her Husband, 5 month old son Caden and their two dogs (Brady and Huckleberry.)  Fun fact: Molly taught and took barre classes through her entire pregnancy and days before Caden was born, she highly recommends it for mental and physical benefits during pregnancy!

Heather

Heather has had a passion for working out all her life, but working remotely in the Advertising industry allowed her to really appreciate the deeper health benefits of fitness and moving your body. Spending hours at a desk pushed her to prioritize fitness, not just for the physical benefits but for the mental clarity and energy boost. Getting out of the house, whether it was for a long walk with her dog Banks or dropping by for a Pulse class, became her way to recharge and break free from the routine of remote work. This shift not only improved her focus but also deepened her passion for fitness, particularly with barre.Heather tends to create a dynamic environment that’s fun, engaging, and full of energy.

Her classes are set to heavy beats with new music that keeps everyone motivated from start to finish. Heather completed her barre certification with Jenn Maturo in 2024. Every class she leads will leave you feeling strong, accomplished, and eager for more.

Meg

A long time sufferer of chronic illness, Meg turns to movement for healing. She loves the mental and physical benefits of exercise, .from running to tucking at the barre. A recent transplant to New England and a new mom, Meg started taking mom and baby barre and pilates classes where she regained strength and found community. This experience inspired her to become a barre and pilates instructor so she could bring that healing experience to others. Meg loves to incorporate pilates based movement into class, so expect a fiery core series! When she’s not at the barre, she loves spending time outdoors with her husband, son and golden retriever.

Kate

Kate is a former yoga instructor, college cheerleader, powerlifter,  and horseback rider. Kate stumbled into a barrebyjenn class and fell in love. She designs her classes to be an inclusive and empowering space. Kate will guide you through an upbeat class. Expect a little spice. Kate completed her certification under Jenn Maturo at PULSE, a barrebyjenn Studio in Hingham, MA. When she’s not at barre, she can be found exploring the area with her two dogs (Daisy and Tucker), binge watching RuPaul’s Drag Race, learning to be a DJ and fantasizing about her next travel adventure.

Kalina

Kalina is a Bulgarian native who has been calling the South Shore home for nearly 20 years.

Fueled by her passion for dance, movement, music and wellness, she discovered her love for barre. Kalina’s journey as a barre instructor began at Pulse, where she trained with Jenn. Her curiosity for the history of barre and dedication to create the best experience for her students recently brought her to the UK where she trained in the original technique as passed down from Lotte Berk to her daughter Esther Fairfax.

Join Kalina for a barre or bounce class, enjoy moving to the rhythm of the music and leave strong and energized.

Jules

Jules is the energizer bunny and a lover of all things fitness & teaching. She is constantly on the go, teaching education courses, lifting weights at Proving Ground, bouncing on trampolines, at barre class, and wrangling her three boys, hubby, and pup.

Her energy is infectious and you can’t help but leave her classes feelings good! She loves love and lifting others. Jules fell in love with the high of her first bounce & barre class with Jenn and knew she was destined to help lift others up to feel their best.

When she’s not at Pulse you can find her seeking out adventures by the ocean or in the mountains with her wonderfully wild crew.

What Jenn has to say…

“I try and push my clients past their limits. It doesn’t matter if it’s your first or 300th barre class, it should always be difficult and you can always take it one inch deeper, go one inch lower and make it one inch tighter.”

What clients are saying…

“Best workout community in MA! You will get a total body hard core workout. This is not your average Barre class. You leave class feeling empowered and inspired by the Pulse crew!”

—Gretchen R

“ Pulse studio is an amazing place! Great variety of classes and teachers, challenging workouts, fun music, and a dedicated community of fitness lovers!”

—Amanda W

“Pulse is my favorite place to exercise. Jenn and her team have created an amazing community of members that are strong and supportive. If you haven’t tried a class- get there ASAP!!”

—Jennifer G

“10/10 recommend everyone take a class here! All of the instructors are so friendly and welcoming. Class sizes are small enough where I feel like they are paying attention to my form and able to adjust if necessary. There’s a variety of class types, meaning everyone’s able to take something that suits their needs and you get to switch up your workout routine every day! Seriously cannot say enough good things about this studio, support local!!!!
